Former Ginebra slotman Greg Slaughter on Friday announced his signing with international basketball agency BeoBasket to take care of his professional career.
“I am very happy to announce that I have signed with @misko4raznatovic, owner of BeoBasket, the biggest international basketball agency in the world,” wrote the 32-year-old Slaughter in his @gregslaughter Instagram account.
“They represent many athletes who I greatly admire that compete in the NBA, EuroLeague, and Asia,” the Instagram announcement continued.
BeoBasket, headed by Serbian lawyer Misko Raznatovic, also represents 7’3” Boban Marjanovic of the Dallas Mavericks, Dario Saric of the Phoenix Suns, Cedi Osman of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets in the National Basketball Association.
“They represent the most number of players competing in the 2019 World Cup and I look forward to adding to that in 2023,” wrote Slaughter, who was part of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s many title runs in the Philippine Basketball Association.
“I am also extremely honored to be the first Filipino player in their roster. Wherever my journey takes me, I will always proudly represent the Philippines, especially our National Team. I will forever be humbled by the opportunities basketball and its fans have given me,” he said. “Salamat sa pag patuloy na suporta.”
Slaughter, who vowed his readiness to represent the Philippines in any overseas tournament if the opportunity comes, has taken a leave of absence from Ginebra after his contract expired early this year.
If he will be considered, Slaughter said he wants to play for Gilas Pilipinas when it plays in the International Basketball Federation World Cup, which the country will co-host with Japan and Indonesia in 2023.
Slaughter, who is currently training in the US, may be setting his sights on the NBA G League, where Ateneo phenom Kai Sotto will play.
He was named the 2017 Governors’ Cup Best Player of the Conference and was chosen five times in the PBA All-Star event.
