The Quezon City government and the city's Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) chapter have partnered to establish mobile testing centers and acquire more face masks and testing kits in response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

The QC PCCI chapter, led by its president Sarah Deloraya-Mateo, donated P50 million. Mayor Joy Belmonte thanked the group for its effort to help fight COVID-19.

“I am so thankful that we have a lot of kind-hearted people, groups and organizations, such as the PCCI- QC, that are continuously pouring in their resources to help the city government in providing the basic needs and medical attention to our constituents amid the pandemic,” Belmonte said.

Deloraya-Mateo said their members pooled their resources to be able to purchase clinic-grade face mask, testing kits and other essentials.

“We, however, let Mayor Belmonte to spend the donation for any specific items which may help the QC government in this crisis,” she told reporters.

Under the partnership, the PCCI-QC and the city government have extended help through the latter’s QC Kalinga program to over 3,000 workers, such the construction, salon, barber shop, spa and restaurant workers.

Dr. Carl Balita, PCCI-QC chairman emeritus, vowed to pursue efforts to help those severely affected by the lockdown.

"We in the business sector are hardly hit, too. That is why we would want to help the affected workers," he said.
