PSC to launch online development program

After cancelling numerous events because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Philippine Sports Commission will now go online with its grassroots development programs.

And first up in the pipeline will be a series of coaches clinics in the Visayas region.

Commissioner Ramon Fernandez said they are ready to roll out with their series of classes in the last week of July.

“We will zoom in on one key factor in sports development. And that is the training of coaches,” said Fernandez.

Fernandez believes that this a positive development for the government sports agency.

This is because their program won’t cost much, now that they are imposing belt-tightening measures next month.

The agency is now implementing cost-cutting measures, with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. set to reduce its remittance by next month.

“Hindi gagastos nang malaki ang PSC because we don’t have to bring all the coaches in one place,” added Fernandez.

The certification classes meant for coaches is set to start on July 27, and it will run for five days.

Fernandez said there’s a lot of excitement in their classes, that it is drawing a big number of participants from the Visayas region.
