The National Capital Region Police Office has initiated its own fund-raising to help the government in its fight against the coronavirus disease.

Metro Manila police director Debold Sinas said the NCRPO took the challenge and participated in the ‘Team PNP Bayanihan Fund Campaign’ aimed to reach P200-million target from voluntary donations of police officers nationwide.

He said the 25,805 personnel from NCRPO and 116 personnel from the Regional Support Units will voluntarily donate P1,000 each or less.

“There is no standard amount specified for their contribution. It is purely voluntary for we know that they too have families who are affected by this health crisis and most of them are sole providers,” said Sinas.

So far, according to Sinas, they were able to generate a total of P30,360,973 from NCRPO personnel and RSUs combined.

“This is 17.13 percent higher than the initial target donations and is way beyond the targeted sum,” he said.

The top three donors who gave more than the expected donations were officers of the Eastern Police District who exceeded their targeted sum of P2,953,000 by 65.04 percent with a total donation of P4,873,673 while the Quezon City Police District surpassed the expected sum of P4,364,000 by 21.75 percent with its total donation of P5,312,960, and the Northern Police District gave 20.51 percent more than the expected donation of P3,686,000 by giving P4,442,100.

The Manila Police District, Southern Police District and Regional Headquarters also donated more than the targeted sum of donations for the project.
