A measure of comfort

In these undoubtedly difficult times, in the nasty zone of the coronavirus pandemic which is daily raising the number of infected cases and the death toll, we have apparently glossed over efforts of those behind the arts.

These people, in their silent manners, have helped restore the sanity of those anxious at not being able to go out as previously during the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

A measure of comfort

No watching of movies in crowded cinemas, no get-together among friends in food chains or even strolling at the mall.

The protocols being implemented by the authorities during the lockdown include social distancing, staying at home, observance of buying grocery items at appointed times.

But the arts make isolation bearable during this uncertain period.

These people are the ones behind films, music, the visual arts available online, the plays, the musicals, dances, the literary arts, and the multidisciplinary arts. These help remove heavy blocks of anxiety on the shoulders of those at home.

The visual arts include—and they come in easy tutorial lessons—drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, film making, as well as design and working with textiles.

We pause from our dejected state and express our gratitude to those who have done much for the arts during these uncanny times.
