The Philippine Stock Exchange will resume trading today after two days of suspension amid the coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak.
PSE president Ramon Monzon said in a memorandum the exchange would implement a shortened trading period from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“Please be informed that trading at The Philippine Stock Exchange Inc. and clearing and settlement at the Securities Clearing Corporation of the Philippines will resume on Thursday, March 19, 2020,” PSE said.
“Further, as prescribed by the national government’s Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases, the PSE trading floor will be closed and will not be accessible by the trading participants. Trading activities by all trading participants will have to be conducted remotely through offsite locations,” it said.
The shortened trading period will be implemented until April 14.
Prior to trading suspension, the bellwether Philippine Stock Exchange Index on Monday closed at 5,335.37, down 458.57 points, or 7.9 percent from last Friday’s close.
