Authorities arrested seven suspected members of a big-time drug syndicate operating in southern part of Metro Manila and seized P2.9 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation Monday night in Taguig City.
The latest operation, according to Southern Police District acting director Col. Emmanuel Peralta, was part of the continuing crackdown on drug dealing in Metro Manila.
Arrested were Saner Guipal, Mohammad Adjaluddin, Butch Oyo, Arapat Samama, Hans Joseph Casiano, Johanna Usman, and Rashid Biri, all included in the police Street Level Target wanted list.
The suspects are now detained and being interrogated at the Taguig City Police Station.
Anti-narcotics men from the Taguig City police station conducted the buy-bust operation along Jolo Sulu Street, Quiapo Dos in Barangay Maharlika around 7:30 p.m.
Police seized a total of 433.02 grams of shabu with a street value of P2.9 million, one Suzuki Raider 150 motorcycle, three mobile phones, boodle money used in the entrapment, and assorted paraphernalia used in sniffing the prohibited substance.
Peralta said the suspects are members of a criminal gang engaged in the illegal drug trade listed in the Southern Police District narcotics watchlist.
He said the latest operation was made in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-National Capital Region and barangay officials in the area.
The seized drugs will be turned over to the SPD Crime Laboratory for chemical analysis.
Peralta commended Taguig City police chief Col. Celso Rodriguez and his men for their successful illegal drug operation.
When he assumed the post as SPD director, Peralta assured Metro Manila police chief Debold Sinas he will continue the police intensified intelligence-driven anti-illegal drugs operations, particularly on middle-level high-valued targets.
