A grand prize of $25,000 or P1 million pesos will be up for grabs in the Huawei Film Awards for the participant who can create the best film, shot on a Huawei smartphone.
Also in attendance in the Huawei Film Awards launching were seasoned directors and executives, Sid Maderazo, Pepe Diokno, and Anna Oposa.
For the best shot of winning, Maderazo and Diokno recommend participants to use Huawei Mate 30 Pro.
“It has best in class wide-range focal length. It has ultra-slow motion, up to 9,000 fps. To shoot that fast is amazing for a small camera,” said Maderazo, commercial and film director, owner of 88story Film, and managing partner of Central Digital Lab.
Maderazo also advised users to utilize Huawei Mate 30 Pro’s focal lengths, night modes and slow motion features to produce optimal results.
Diokno also told users to never be afraid to go out in the field to shoot.
“I hope that you guys just go out and shoot and have fun,” said Diokno, film director, producer and screenwriter.
As a parting advice, Maderazo told users to go out and shoot now that technology is more accessible compared to his time.
“During my time, a camera costs an arm and a leg. Now, everything is more accessible, go out and shoot. Eventually, you’ll be able to see your work on screen,” he concluded.
Five judges, who are mostly directors and producers from the Asia Pacific region, will choose the best in all submitted entries.
The deadline of the Huawei Film Awards is on February 25 at 11:59 p.m.
