THE Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) joined community officials and villagers in a “flag retirement” ceremony in Barangay Alion, Mariveles, Bataan led by barangay captain Al Balan.
The event marked the first organized barangay-level flag disposal in the province, outside the usual venues such as schools and military camps as mandated by
Republic Act No. 8491, or the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines.
AFAB took part in the solemn observance for the retirement of 22 worn-out Philippine flags that have seen better days in the service for the country
The ceremony followed standard procedures observed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Philippine National Police, as well as the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines.
