The Makati City government reminded residents of Barangays Bangkal, Pio del Pilar and Magallanes that a total ban on firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices remains in force.
Under Ordinance No. 2010-A-020, the production, sale, storage, possession and use of firecrackers are prohibited in the three villages, particularly during the holiday season.
Violators face a P5,000 fine or up to six months in jail, with business owners or managers held liable for violations by establishments.
City officials said the ban is due to the villages’ proximity to the former petroleum pipeline leak site, where ignition could endanger lives and property.
Police also conducted inspections ahead of the New Year’s Countdown 2026 to ensure security, crowd control and emergency preparedness.
