SANTA Rosa City in Laguna commemorated the 129th anniversary of the national hero Dr. Jose Rizal’s martyrdom on Dec. 30, through a meaningful and historic ceremony attended by various sectors of the community.
Mayor Arlene Arcillas led the event, joined residents and local officials in honoring Dr. Rizal. The ceremony had theme “Rizal: In the Rise of the People, Your Teachings and Spirit Are Our True Guide,” highlighting the enduring relevance of Rizal’s ideals to the Filipino people.
In her message, Mayor Arcillas emphasized the importance of unity, education, and love of country as foundations for national progress. She noted that the spirit of Jose Rizal remains alive in every Filipino willing to make sacrifices for the welfare of the nation and fellow citizens.
Vice Mayor Arnold Arcillas also delivered a message of tribute, calling on the youth to draw inspiration from Rizal’s teachings in their studies and active participation in society. He underscored the vital role of the youth in continuing the values and principles for which Rizal fought.
