SMAC, the loyalty program of SM Retail, and BDO Unibank remittance arm BDO Remit have launched a partnership to provide overseas Filipino workers and their families with loyalty points for every cash pickup transaction made at SM retail outlets.
Under the agreement signed Nov. 11, 2025 at the BDO Corporate Center, active SMAC members earn P1 worth of SMAC points for every P10,000 cash pickup transaction processed through BDO Remit.
The initiative aims to provide immediate value to beneficiaries by transforming financial remittances into rewards that can be used for groceries and other essentials within the SM ecosystem.
The program is available at currency exchange counters inside SM Stores nationwide. Starting Dec. 1, 2025, the service will expand to include currency exchange counters within SM Markets and WalterMart Supermarket locations.
To earn points, beneficiaries should present an active SMAC, SMAC Start or SMAC Prestige card when claiming their funds.
Digital Advantage Corp. chief operating officer John Patrick Cua said the mission of the program is to ensure every transaction feels rewarding for members. He noted that the card serves as a connection that recognizes the hard work of Filipinos abroad.
The collaboration reflects a shared vision to enhance the remittance experience for the millions of families relying on overseas funding.
SM Retail Inc. vice president for treasury Jeffrey Ang said the alliance creates new opportunities for growth and service integration between the two entities.
BDO senior vice president and remittance head Genie Gloria thanked SMAC for the collaboration on cash pickups. She noted that the bank plans to enhance and improve its cash pickup system as it accommodates a growing number of remitters in the future.
By integrating loyalty rewards into the remittance process, the partners aim to increase the purchasing power of OFW families.
The points earned through these transactions can be redeemed for various goods and services across the SM Group’s extensive network of retail partners.
