Marking a historic transition from a former conflict gateway to a hub of development, national and regional officials on Saturday broke ground for the rehabilitation of a five-kilometer provincial road connecting two remote towns in Magjuindanao del Norte.
The road links Barangay Langkong in Matanog to Barangay Tugaig in Barira, Maguindanao del Norte.
The ceremony launched the project funded under the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity’s (OPAPRU) Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) Program, alongside other 2025 initiatives, including water systems, an evacuation center, and an abaca processing facility.
OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. described the project as a “testament of really good development…turning the area into a “wow zone,” as he assured residents that these “peace dividends” are “from the people and for the people.”
