DHSUD, UPLB eye 4PH rental housing

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB) eye a partnership for rental housing under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program.

Housing Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, in a recent exploratory meeting, raised to UP-LB Chancellor Jose Camacho Jr. the memorandum of agreement between DHSUD and UP-Diliman that will pave the way for the construction of Pook Marilag Residences, a pilot rental housing scheme under the Expanded 4PH, to commence early next year.

Along with other university officials, Camacho presented to Aliling their proposed housing projects to address the shelter need of low-income campus workers and even issues concerning informal settler families.

Aliling said rental housing is suitable at the UP-LB. “The priority of the Expanded 4Ph is the safety of our countrymen, espcially those living in the danger zones, such as riverbanks and steep mountain ranges so you can expect the full support of DHSUD in your project,” he said.
