The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Friday said all airports nationwide are on heightened alert due to the anticipated increase in passenger traffic during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
CAAP expects at least 960,000 passengers this year, a 7-percent increase compared to the 895,000 passengers recorded in 2024.
Enhanced security protocols and additional personnel will be implemented in accordance with the instructions of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure passenger safety and facilitate effective airport operations.
Malasakit Help Desks have also been designated at all airports to assist travelers with their concerns, while medical teams will be on standby to provide immediate assistance in case of emergencies.
CAAP is coordinating with local authorities, including the Philippine National Police (PNP) Aviation Security Unit, the Office of Transportation Security, the Department of Tourism, the Civil Aeronautics Board, and airlines, to ensure the efficient processing of passengers, especially at check-in counters.
“The safety and convenience of the traveling public remain our top priority. We are ensuring that passengers experience safe, orderly, and efficient airport operations throughout the holiday period,” CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario said.
The authority urges the traveling public to remain vigilant, comply with airport safety protocols, and cooperate with security and airline personnel to help ensure safe, secure, and efficient airport operations throughout the holiday season.
