House Deputy Minority Leader Leila de Lima on Tuesday urged the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to ensure the safety of inmate Ramil Lagunoy Madriaga, who claims that Vice President Sara Duterte’s 2021–2022 campaign efforts were bankrolled by money from POGO operators and drug dealers.
De Lima, of the Mamayang Liberal Party-list, made the statement amid concerns regarding Madriaga’s security after he made serious accusations against the vice president.
“Hindi ko po masasabi yan (I cannot say that),” De Lima said regarding the alleged ex-Duterte administration intelligence officer’s safety.
“I think yung pamunuan (I think the leadership), the management of the BJMP facility, I think kailangan din nila (they need) to ensure the security of Mr. Madriaga, irrespective of what turns out from all of this,” said the former senator.
“I think his security is a concern in the meantime na mayroon ganito na kailangan talaga tignan (that there is such a thing that has to be looked into), i-scrutinize, i-look into those allegations,” De Lima stressed.
Madriaga is being held at the BJMP facility in Bicutan, Taguig City.
Among the acts Madriaga alleged were cash deliveries he personally delivered at a Timog comedy bar where then OVP spokesperson Reynold Munsayac was supposedly present, handoffs in the Office of the Ombudsman parking area and at SM Megamall, runs using a white Toyota Vios carrying as much as P80 million, and repeated drop-offs at a residence in Jordan Plains, Novaliches.
He also claimed to have organized the ISIP Pilipinas network and to have worked under figures connected to the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group. These are allegations that now require an independent review, with those named publicly denying any ties.
“I received a copy of the affidavit at syempre nakita ko, napaka-sensitibo, napakabigat ng kanyang mga akusasyon laban, hindi lang laban kay VP Sara kundi mayroon din siyang mga sinasabi tungkol sa dating Pangulo,” De Lima said.
(I received a copy of the affidavit, and of course, I saw, very sensitive, very heavy his accusations against, not only against VP Sara, but he also has things to say about the former President.)
