The Philippine National Police acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. on Sunday ordered dismissal proceedings against a police officer who tested positive for illegal drug use in Palompon, Leyte.
The police corporal, assigned to the Palompon Municipal Police Station, tested positive during a targeted and intelligence-driven drug test conducted on December 5.
Investigators said Team 8 of the IMEG-Visayas received information in September 2025 that the officer was allegedly using illegal drugs, prompting validation and inclusion in a random drug test.
Results released on December 13 showed the officer tested positive for methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
Nartatez ordered the filing of administrative cases, with dismissal among the penalties being pursued, and warned that criminal charges may follow, stressing that no one in the PNP is exempt from accountability.
