Sexbomb dancers recall harassment from male fans during past performances

Sexbomb members Jopay Paguia and Aira Bermudez opened up about disturbing incidents of harassment they and their fellow dancers experienced from male fans at the height of their popularity.

In an episode of “Your Honor,” Jopay recounted an incident during a campaign event where a male fan groped one of their groupmates while they were boarding the bus.

“Talagang kinaskas ’yung ano niya. Iyak siya pag-akyat,” she said, adding that they confronted the man afterward.

Aira said the incident was not isolated. She recalled another show in Batangas where the stage lights repeatedly went dark, enabling a drunken man to grab one of the dancers at the back of the line.

The two also addressed misconceptions that dancers are promiscuous because of their profession.

“Na malandi ’yan, maharot ’yan, pokpok ’yan,” Jopay said, stressing that such stereotypes are unfair.

Aira shared similar experiences of judgment from neighbors as early as age 12 while she was dancing to help support her family.

Sexbomb rose to fame as main dancers of noontime variety show “Eat Bulaga”.

The group will hold a reunion concert on Dec. 4 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
