The Australian government allocated AUD3 million (P115.9 million) in humanitarian assistance to support the Marcos administration’s response to typhoons “Tino” and “Uwan.”
In a statement released on Friday, Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Marc Innes-Brown reiterated their readiness to support the Philippines.
“Australia always stands ready to support the Philippines. We commend the Philippine Government on their quick and extensive response to multiple disasters impacting millions of Filipinos,” Innes-Brown said.
“Australia is willing to work with the Philippine Government where it is needed as they continue their response efforts across the country,” the ambassador added.
The embassy also said that Australia’s humanitarian partners work closely at the local-level with government and civil society to ensure efforts are coordinated and assistance reaches those in need.
“Australia’s assistance can provide in-country shelter, water sanitation and hygiene, health services and food assistance,” the embassy said.
Earlier, the Chinese government and the European Union in the Philippines also pledged their support to the Philippine government by providing humanitarian assistance to the victims of the recent typhoons.
