The Northern Luzon Naval Command (NLNC) mobilized its naval and marine reservists across Northern Luzon through the Naval Reserve Center – Northern Luzon (NRCen-NL) to support relief operations in communities devastated by Super Typhoon Uwan.
In a statement on Thursday, the Philippine Navy (PN) said reservists in Ilocos Sur participated in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR), including clearing operations in Vigan City, and packing relief boxes with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
They also helped distribute hot meals to 249 evacuees from San Vicente, Sta. Catalina, San Julian, and Mindoro at the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
In Zambales, naval reservists joined the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Subic in removing road obstructions in Barangay Mangan Vaca and supported the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in conducting a feeding program for evacuees at Kolehiyo ng Subic.
In Ilocos Norte, marine reservists coordinated with the 28th Marine Company during a planning conference to enhance monitoring and evacuation strategies in Pasuquin.
In Pangasinan, naval reservists worked with the San Carlos City LGU on family welfare initiatives and road-clearing efforts.
Marine reservists also aided in rescuing six families in Barangay Magtaking and assisted the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) in helping eight stranded individuals.
In Cagayan, reservists supported the MDRRMO of Santa Ana in hauling 130 family food packs to the San Vicente Evacuation Area.
“These concerted actions exemplify the NLNC’s steadfast commitment to the Philippine Navy’s core values, ensuring continued support to communities affected by natural calamities and reinforcing the resilience of Northern Luzon,” the Navy said.
