Senate upgrades website to boost transparency, citizen engagement

Senate President Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III on Tuesday launched the redesigned Senate of the Philippines website as part of an effort to strengthen transparency, accessibility, and accountability between the chamber and Filipino citizens.

Sotto described the new platform as a tool to advance the public’s right to information and enhance citizen engagement with legislative processes.

The redesigned site features a modern, mobile-friendly interface aimed at improving user experience for visitors.

Visitors can now easily monitor legislation, track committee activities, and view individual senator performance records, including budget allocations.

The website also includes live streaming of Senate sessions, allowing citizens real-time access to debates and deliberations.

A dedicated public assistance section provides direct support and resources to help citizens navigate legislative information.

Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, and other Senate officials and staff attended the launch.

The original Senate website was launched in 2001 to mark the chamber’s 85th anniversary.

Sotto acknowledged the work of the office of the Senate Secretary in overseeing the website redesign project.

Meanwhile, the Electronic Data Processing-Management Information System Bureau contributed to technical development and system integration.

“We are launching a new Senate website that strengthens the commitments we made as a democratic institution, notably, the freedom of information, ease of access, transparency, and accountability to the Filipino people,” Sotto said.
