The government has mobilized nearly P400 million in assistance for farmers and fisherfolk affected by Supertyphoon Uwan.
According to the Department of Agriculture (DA), around P381 million worth of farm inputs—such as rice, corn, and high-value crop seeds—have been readied, along with animal feeds, fish fingerlings, and access to credit and insurance programs to support affected communities.
The DA said 2.57 million bags of rice from the National Food Authority (NFA) have been prepositioned for distribution to local government units and relief agencies.
Farmers may also avail of loans of up to P25,000 under the Survival and Recovery (SURE) Loan Program of the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), payable in three years at zero interest.
The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) will provide indemnification for insured farmers whose crops or livestock suffer losses.
Regional offices have been directed to prepare seeds, livestock biologics, and fishery inputs, while maintaining close coordination with local governments and regional disaster councils.
The DA is likewise monitoring commodity prices and market movement in typhoon-affected areas.
