Filipino game developers generated $4.87 million in confirmed and potential sales during Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany, the world’s largest gaming trade fair, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said Monday.
The sales leads include prospective publishing deals, outsourcing contracts and co-production projects that are expected to attract new investments, generate high-value jobs, and expand opportunities for Filipino talent in the international market, according to the DTI.
“Gamescom 2025 proved to be a game-changer for the country’s game development industry. The B2B engagements during the fair enabled Philippine studios to forge partnerships that will propel our industry forward,” said Maria Katrina Rivera, assistant director of the DTI-Export Marketing Bureau (EMB).
The delegation, led by the EMB and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center–Berlin in partnership with the EU-funded ARISE Plus Philippines Project, met with leading publishers, investor, and outsourcing firms from Europe, Japan, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, South Korea and the United States.
Commercial counselor Nicanor Bautista cited the strengthening of ties with German industry leaders and the enthusiastic response from European partners and the Philippines’ competitive edge in game development services.
Project manager for ITC ARISE+ Camille Roy said the collaboration demonstrates how international partnerships can drive sustainable growth for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in emerging creative sectors.
Six studios represented the Philippines at Gamescom 2025, including Neun Farben, Ranida Games, Animation Vertigo, GameOps, Yangyang Mobile and the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP).
