Young Filipinos will stage another anti-corruption community prayer rally in front of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, commonly known as the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila, next week.
In a social media post, the Manila Cathedral announced that the event, titled “Memorare: A Day of Lament and Prayer of Young People,” will take place at 4 p.m. on October 31.
“With growing awareness and engagement among young people in the call for transparency, accountability, and good governance, let us gather in prayer and discernment, imploring the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Queen of the Holy Rosary, for our country,” the post read.
Organizers urged those who will join the Church-led activity to wear white clothes and/or white ribbons.
The event will be the latest in a series of mass protest actions by various groups and organizations amid the discovery of massive corruption in flood control projects.
The first rally, dubbed “Trillion Peso March,” on Sept. 21, drew members of several civil society organizations, religious groups, celebrities, and ordinary people to Rizal Park in Manila and the People Power Monument in Quezon City.
Recently, a weekly “White Friday Protest” was also launched in some parts of the country by some civil society groups, calling for accountability among government officials tagged in anomalous infrastructure projects.
