Globe wins International Finance Award for best ESG practices

MANILA– Globe Telecom Inc. has secured the 2025 International Finance Awards (IFA) for Best ESG Practices in Telecommunications (Philippines), recognizing its dedication to fostering a resilient, inclusive and thriving digital future for the nation.

“This reflects the collective dedication of the entire Globe team to integrate environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and good governance into everything we do,” said Globe chief sustainability and corporate communications officer Yoly Crisanto.

Globe’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy includes championing a green network.

The company is the first listed Philippine firm with a science-based targets initiative (SBTi)-validated net-zero goal by 2050.

Globe has increased its renewable energy use to 24 percent, powering 29 facilities in 2024 and expanding to 36 sites this year. Over the past decade, it has deployed more than 38,000 green solutions and introduced EcoSIMs, recyclable packaging and eSIMs to help reduce plastic waste.

The company said it promotes an inclusive digital society by offering affordable connectivity, such as Globe Fiber Prepaid, to underserved areas.

The company said it is committed to digital literacy, supporting students, parents and teachers through the digital thumbprint program, which was expanded last year with the senior digizen program for the elderly.

Globe also proactively protects customers from scams and harmful content and continues to advance hunger alleviation and address child stunting through the Hapag Movement.

Globe received the Five Golden Arrow Award for three years and maintains an ‘AA’ ESG rating from MSCI for two years.

Its board-led governance, through the board risk oversight and sustainability committee, ensures sustainability is embedded in its core strategy, which also earned consumer recognition in the 2025 Standard Insights Consumer Choice Awards.

The company also enforces ESG-linked vendor policies across its supply chain, training 160 vendors on sustainable practices in 2024.

The IFA awards spotlight executive excellence and groundbreaking innovation across several sectors and are recognized as a benchmark for industry leadership, particularly in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
