PCG saves 16 in high sea rescue operation

THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Eastern Sulu has rescued 16 people, consisting of 11 crew members and five passengers of a motorized boat that suffered engine failure and drifted off Capual Island, Omar, Sulu.

The boat was headed to Kawit, Zamboanga City from Sulu when it struck floating debris, resulting in propeller damage and subsequent engine malfunction.

The PCH deployed Search and Rescue (SAR) teams to the area after receiving a report about the incident. 

The distressed vessel was later located off the coast of Gujangan Island, Panamao, Sulu.

All 16 rescued individuals were reported safe and in good condition while the boat was safely towed to Allayon Port, Luuk, Sulu.
