The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Friday announced it has activated the quick response teams (QRTs) of its field offices along the path of Tropical Depression “Ramil.”
The agency assured stakeholders that there are sufficient relief supplies prepositioned in strategic areas for prompt delivery to communities affected by the weather disturbance.
“Secretary Rex Gatchalian, in accordance with the order of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., immediately instructed our Field Offices to contact the local governments to assure the mayors that the family food packs (FFPs) and other emergency relief items of the DSWD are ready for those affected by tropical cyclone Ramil,” Social Welfare Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Irene Dumlao said in a mix of English and Filipino.
She said the DSWD has heightened its readiness measures to guarantee the immediate deployment of food and non-food items (FNFIs) once the need arises.
“Our goal is not to delay aid when the effects of the cyclone are felt,” Dumlao said, adding that the agency has prepositioned enough FFPs in its hubs, spokes, and last-mile facilities.
The DSWD also maintains available stockpiles of non-food relief items such as sleeping kits, hygiene kits, and kitchen kits to support families who might be placed in evacuation centers.
