Ombudsman Jesus Crispin ‘Boying’ Remulla formally took his oath of office in a ceremony held at the Supreme Court in Manila on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
SC Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen administered Remulla’s oath in the presence of his wife and Associate Justice Antonio Kho, Jr.
Remulla succeeded retired Ombudsman Samuel Martires, whose term ended last July. The former justice secretary vowed to uphold transparency, fairness, and accountability as he leads the country’s top anti-graft agency.
In his recent media interviews, Remulla said he will push measures to strengthen the enforcement of anti-corruption laws in the country, in pursuit of political accountability and the restoration of public trust in democratic institutions.
President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. appointed Remulla earlier this week to lead the Office of the Ombudsman, citing the reforms he implemented during his tenure as justice secretary under the current administration.
