MMDA, Pasay LGU team up for Maricaban Creek cleanup

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Pasay City government carried out a cleanup drive in Maricaban Creek under the agency’s Bayanihan sa Estero program, aimed at reducing flooding by clearing waste and silt from waterways.

MMDA chairman Romando Artes and Pasay City Rep. Antonio Calixto led the operation on October 3, joined by local volunteers who showed strong support for environmental protection.

Artes said the initiative seeks to clean Metro Manila’s waterways to help prevent floods and waterborne diseases, while also ensuring the safety of residents near creeks and rivers.

As part of the effort, trash traps will be installed to stop garbage from entering the creek, while new signage will remind residents of proper waste management.

Heavy equipment was used during the cleanup, with Calixto thanking the MMDA for its continued support in addressing flooding problems in the city.
