TINGOG rolls out relief mission for earthquake victims in Cebu

THE TINGOG party-list on Friday rolled out its relief mission to assist families affected by the powerful earthquake that jolted Cebu, providing much-needed food packs to thousands of affected residents.

Tingog party-list Reps. Yedda Romualdez, Jude Acidre, and Andrew Julian Romualdez, in collaboration with Cebu 4th District Rep. Sun Shimura and other local leaders, distributed relief packs and tents to the affected residents of Bogo City and the towns of Medellin, Borbon, and San Remigio.

The mission is aimed at immediately addressing hunger and thirst among quake-hit communities.

“We want our kababayans (countrymen) in Cebu to know they are not alone in this struggle. Tingog will provide immediate relief and stand with them as they recover from this tragedy,” the lawmakers said in a joint statement.

Rep. Yedda Romualdez said the relief mission was a concrete expression of bayanihan (self-help).

“In every calamity, the most important thing is fellowship. Tingog is committed to bringing comfort and relief, especially to our fellow Filipinos who lost their homes and livelihood because of the quake,” she said.

Acidre urged quake victims to stay strong amid the disaster.

For his part, Andrew Romualdez gave assurance that TINGOG’s effort would not end with relief distribution.

The trio also extended their condolences to the families who lost loved ones and underscored that continued cooperation with national and local government agencies will hasten rehabilitation.

“Together, we can rise from this tragedy. With unity, compassion, and resilience, Cebu will recover stronger,” they said.
