Eighty-eight tourists who had been stranded in Batanes for more than a week due to stormy weather were flown back to Manila on Thursday, September 25, through a government-led humanitarian mission.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD), with support from the Philippine Air Force, arranged a C-130 flight from Basco Airport to Villamor Air Base, carrying the stranded visitors who had been unable to leave the island for over 10 days because of strong winds and heavy rains triggered by the storm and Southwest Monsoon.

The flight was part of a broader relief operation that also delivered 600 family food packs and 237 kilos of medical supplies to Batanes, and 679 packs to Calayan. Supplies were transported using both C-130 and Black Hawk aircraft.
