The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) ordered on Friday the recall of Labor Attaché Macy Monique Maglanque, currently assigned in Los Angeles, to allow her to face an investigation following a privilege speech by Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Chair Senator Panfilo Lacson.
In his speech, Lacson alleged Maglanque’s connection to MBB Global Properties, a company reportedly linked to controversies in flood control projects.
While no sanction has been imposed, the DMW emphasized its commitment to accountability and transparency, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Executive Order No. 94, which upholds honesty, integrity, good governance, and accountability in public service.
“Today, we have issued a recall order for Labor Attaché Maglanque, so she can go home and personally face the investigation,” DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said in Filipino. “There are no sanctions imposed yet, but it is important for her to answer the questions.”
Cacdac clarified that the recall is a procedural step to allow Maglanque to respond to the allegations in the Philippines. He emphasized that the DMW respects due process and will fully cooperate with any official inquiry.
“She is just going to face the investigation. This is part of our commitment to integrity and accountability in public service,” the DMW chief added.
The DMW assured the public that it will continue to enforce strict measures to safeguard integrity within its ranks and protect the trust and welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Maglanque is the daughter of incumbent Candaba, Pampanga Mayor Rene Maglanque, who was flagged by Lacson over conflict of interest after his family’s construction firm reportedly cornered P2.195-billion worth of flood control project contracts in Bulacan.
