The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has entered into an agreement with government agencies to implement the Local Government Support Fund – Green Green Green (G-3) Program of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
The initiative aims to make the country’s 145 cities more livable and sustainable through the development of public open spaces.
MMDA chairman Don Artes and the Metro Manila Council, composed of 17 NCR mayors, expressed full support for the program, which he said “goes beyond urban greening and beautification” and focuses on creating safe, inclusive public spaces.
Artes noted that the G-3 program, under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration, improves the lives of Filipinos while protecting the environment. He said it aligns with MMDA’s work on urban renewal, sanitation, and pollution control. Joel E. Zurbano
In 2024, the MMDA allocated additional funds for projects such as Adopt-a-Park and the Neighborhood Upgrading and Landscaping Program. DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman led the ceremonial signing Friday with Artes and Human Settlements Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling.
