PH tourism summit to tackle challenges

The Tourism & Hospitality Education Summit will be held on Sept. 10, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City to address critical issues facing the country’s tourism industry.

The event will gather government leaders, industry representatives, educators and students. The summit follows a report by the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II) that highlighted systemic failures in Philippine education, including outdated curricula and a persistent skills mismatch.

These issues, identified in EDCOM II’s second-year report, threaten the supply of skilled workers needed for the growing tourism and hospitality sectors.

The summit will focus on bridging the gap between academic training and industry needs. Sessions will cover the future of work, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), the value of micro-credentials, and strategies to prepare a new generation of professionals for an Industry 5.0 environment.

Insights will be provided by leaders from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and major industry associations, including the Philippine Association of Convention/Exhibition Organizers and Suppliers, Inc. (PACEOS) and the Association of Administrators in Hospitality, Hotel and Restaurant Management Educational Institutions (AAHRMEI).
