Vice Ganda took a swipe at corrupt officials while in London for ASAP in England, sharing his frustrations through a mix of humor and serious commentary on Instagram.
On Aug. 28, the comedian posted a photo of meals he and fellow Kapamilya stars prepared at their Airbnb to save money. He joked that by their third day they were still reheating leftover adobo, but the light moment turned pointed when he recalled the millions he pays in taxes each year.
“Bigla kong naalala ‘yung milyon-milyon kong tax na pinaghahati-hatian ng mga garapal na magnanakaw,” he wrote.
The It’s Showtime host was honored in March as one of Quezon City’s top taxpayers for 2024. During the Bureau of Internal Revenue ceremony, he reminded the public that while paying taxes is every Filipino’s duty, citizens also have the right to demand transparency and accountability from government officials.
“Pagkatapos nating magbayad ng buwis, karapatan din nating obligahin ang mga tatanggap at gagamit ng perang ibinabayad natin,” he said, stressing that taxpayers deserve to see improvements in projects and quality of life.
Vice urged the public to pay their dues while remaining vigilant about how their money is spent.
