Netflix announced that the animated feature KPop Demon Hunters has become its most popular film of all time.
On Wednesday, Aug. 27, the streaming giant shared on its social media that the movie had reached 236 million views since its release.
“THEIR #1 ERA. With 236 million views, KPOP DEMON HUNTERS is OFFICIALLY the most popular Netflix film OF ALL TIME,” the post read.
The film follows Huntrix, a K-pop girl group balancing their superstar careers with a secret duty — to fight demons. Their double life is put to the test when they face the Saja Boys, a rival group revealed to be demons themselves.
The voice cast includes Arden Cho, Ejae, Ahn Hyo-seop, Andrew Choi, May Hong, Audrey Nuna, Ji-young Yoo, Rei Ami, Joel Kim Booster, Kevin Woo, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, Lee Byung-hun, and Lea Salonga.
Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, the studio behind the Spider-Verse franchise, the film’s soundtrack also produced a chart-topper, with “Golden” reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on Aug. 16.
No sequel has been confirmed.
