DSWD to Filipinos in crisis: No need for fixers to avail AICS

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reminds the public that there is no need to go through fixers to avail of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

“We don’t need fixers. Because our social workers are trained to assess and assist you to be provided with the right interventions. Second, the fixer will only create further problems and complications to your needs. They might give you information that puts you at risk,” DSWD Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) Director Edwin Morata said.

Morata emphasized that the DSWD and its field offices are always open and ready to serve those in crisis.

“All you really have to do is give us the right information, the right person, and the right documents. If those three are present, there will be no problem in providing assistance to you, particularly in the AICS program,” he said.

The CIP director also cautioned the public against false information online, emphasizing that all information on the availment of AICS are available at the official DSWD website.

Morata said AICS is not just for medical needs but the program actually covers a wide range of support for individuals and families in crisis.

Aside from financial aid, the AICS also offers psychosocial support through the WiSupport—a program of the DSWD that provides holistic services to clients in crisis, who may also be under extreme stress and experiencing anxiety, depression or other mental health issues.

Under the AICS, the DSWD also provides material aid such as food boxes and assistive devices, and referral services to other agencies for a more comprehensive package of support.

The DSWD official emphasized that AICS is for anyone facing a crisis, not just indigent families.
