When Korean superstar Hyun Bin landed in the Philippines for the first time, it came as no surprise that he would order the iconic Filipino dish chicken and pork adobo during his stay at the Solaire Resort Entertainment City in Parañaque.
The actor, whose character Captain Ri Jeong-hyeok in the worldwide hit series Crash Landing On You has endeared him to his Filipino fans, said his friends who have previously visited the Philippines recommended the dish.
“(The adobo) was very delicious and amazing. It was very enjoyable,” he said.
According to Joy Wassmer, director of public relations and communications of Solaire Resort, she asked the culinary team to add a bit of chili to the classic chicken and pork adobo dish.

“My son liked that version so much. That’s why I asked our staff to make our adobo for Hyun Bin a bit spicy,” she said.
And for Hyun Bin, it was love at first bite.
The actor also gave glowing praise to the warmth of the Filipino people, the vibrant energy of Manila, and the impeccable hospitality he experienced during his stay.
“From the moment I arrived, everyone has been so warm and welcoming…I’ve heard many good things about Manila but experiencing it for myself — it’s even more wonderful than I expected,” he said.
Solaire Resort Entertainment City, the country’s first integrated resort, is known for offering a seamless blend of luxury, entertainment, and Filipino hospitality. “The hotel is very beautiful,” Hyun Bin said. “One thing that really stood out to me is the incredible view from my room—especially during sunset. It’s truly breathtaking.”
