AS BIG retail brands expand outside city centers, they are opening new stores as part of a larger plan to build closer connections with local communities.
For Uniqlo Philippines, its newest branch is designed to make daily necessities more accessible to residents while highlighting local partnerships.
The global clothing brand launched its latest store at SM City Marilao on May 15, continuing its expansion throughout the country. The new store allows people in Bulacan to more easily find the brand’s LifeWear clothing for men, women, and children, which focuses on comfort, practicality, and everyday wear.

But the opening extends beyond clothing racks and retail space.
To mark the launch, Uniqlo partnered with local organizations and enterprises that highlight both community livelihood and education initiatives. From May 15 to 17, the first 100 customers daily received a custom Puni basket handcrafted by Punique, a social enterprise that supports women through puni weaving as an additional source of livelihood. Each basket also came with toasted pastillas from Rosalie’s Pasalubong, a Bulacan brand known for its local delicacies.
The partnership with Punique will continue through puni weaving workshops for students, an effort meant to encourage interest in a traditional craft long associated with Bulacan.

The company has also joined forces with Yellow Boat of Hope to support students of Pamarawan Elementary School through donations that include a motorized boat, school supplies, and pre-loved clothing. The initiative aims to help address access challenges faced by students in the community.
The opening of the store also features a week-long promotional deal on a selection of items for men, women, and children. These items include AIRism essentials, linen clothing, jeans, shorts, and casual wear, available until May 21.
Shoppers visiting during opening week can also take advantage of limited offers running until May 21. Featured items include AIRism shirts starting at P390, linen and cotton pieces from P590, Geared Shorts at P990, Slim Straight Jeans at P1,490, and selected casual wear for women and children at reduced prices.

Uniqlo said the Marilao branch reflects its larger goal of expanding into key locations nationwide while making LifeWear products more accessible to Filipino families and neighboring communities.
