Five South Korean nationals have been arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) for their alleged involvement in multiple online fraud schemes.
The BI, in coordination with Korean authorities and the Philippine Air Force, arrested the suspects in a house inside Clark Freeport Zone, Angeles City. The suspects were identified as Ham Seong Hwan, Kim Jongbaek, Kim Taekyeong, Park Jinhyung, and Park Youngjun.
The group allegedly ran fake travel and hotel booking sites to scam people looking for luxury vacations. Park, said to be the group’s ringleader, has been overstaying since 2024.
Park Youngjun was arrested separately along Jose Abad Santos Avenue. He is facing an Interpol red notice and a warrant of arrest from the Seongnam branch of the Suwon District Court in South Korea for fraud.
He reportedly profited from fraudulent subscriptions on a South Korean live-streaming platform, earning over 190,000 pesos. All five are now in BI custody pending deportation proceedings.
