1SAMBAYAN opposed the Supreme Court’s recent dismissal of the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, criticizing its ruling over what the coalition described as serious “factual inaccuracies.”
“1SAMBAYAN most respectfully disagrees with the Supreme Court’s decision dismissing the fourth impeachment complaint, citing factual inaccuracies,” the group said in a statement posted Saturday evening (July 26).
They argued that based on House of Representatives records, it clearly showed that the complaint was filed and acted upon before the dismissal of the preceding three complaints.
This was prior to its adjournment of sessions on 5 February—contrary to the high tribunal’s ruling that it was filed too late and without plenary action.
1SAMBAYAN said this misinterpretation of the facts undermines the credibility of the Supreme Court’s findings and called for a re-examination of the decision.
They also demand transparency, accountability, and corrections to uphold judicial integrity and prevent flawed legal precedents.
“The misinterpretation of facts undermines the principles of due process and fair judgement,” the group said.
1SAMBAYAN is a political organization founded by former Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio.
