The Board of Investments (BOI) showcased the Philippines as a strategic player in the clean energy and e-mobility sectors at The Battery Show Asia: Battery and E-Mobility Investment Summit, held at AsiaWorld-Expo from July 15 to 17, 2025.
BOI executive director Evariste Cagatan cited investment opportunities across the renewable energy value chain, including battery energy storage systems, electric vehicles, and advanced manufacturing. She emphasized the country’s strong policy support, streamlined energy permitting, and competitive incentives available under the Renewable Energy Act and the CREATE Law.
“The BOI plays a key role in stimulating industrial growth, attracting impactful and responsible investments, and enhancing productivity, allowing flexibility and innovation in meeting policy and economic goals,” she said.
In 2024, the BOI approved P1.38 trillion in energy projects, accounting for more than three-quarters of the total 1.62 trillion pesos in investments last year.
Meanwhile, the BOI hosted a 12-member delegation from the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (BVMW), Germany’s largest cross-sectoral SME organization. The visit, which covered Manila and Cebu from July 14 to 18, aimed to build long-term trade and investment linkages with Philippine counterparts.
Discussions focused on key growth sectors such as semiconductors, electronics, renewable energy, and infrastructure.
These areas align with both Germany’s innovation-driven industries and the Philippines’ green industrial transformation agenda.
The BOI also encouraged the delegation to explore the country’s Transnational Higher Education Program, which supports international academic partnerships and human capital development through improved regulatory frameworks.
