Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno has relieved nine Customs officers linked to an alleged extortion incident at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 last month.
The incident is now the object of a full-blown investigation by the Internal Inquiry Division of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), Nepomuceno said.

The nine employees implicated in the irregularity have been removed from their posts pending the outcome of the probe, the Nepomuceno said without giving details of the incident.
We take these matters seriously and there will be no leniency for personnel who abuse their position. Any form of misconduct will be met with immediate and appropriate action,” Nepomuceno said.
