The number of people believed to have been killed by the combined effects of the southwest monsoon and Tropical Cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong could rise as high as 12, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Thursday morning.
However, confirmed deaths still stand at only two individuals, with one tallied in Region 10 (Northern Mindanao) and another one in the Caraga Region.
Meanwhile, 10 reported fatalities are still undergoing the validation process, with three reported in Calabarzon, two in Northern Mindanao, another two in Region 6 (Western Visayas), one in Region 11 (Davao Region), one in Mimaropa, and another one in the National Capital Region (NCR), the agency noted.
The NDRRMC said families affected by heavy rains stand at 765,869, or equivalent to 2,733,646 persons residing in 3,712 barangays in 17 regions nationwide.
As of this time, 40,487 families are being aided and sheltered in 1,117 evacuation centers, while another 23,830 families are being assisted by the government but not staying in shelters.
Additionally, the NDRRMC said that 2,431 houses were damaged, of which 2,008 were classified as “partially damaged” and 423 as “totally damaged”.
Damage to agriculture was estimated at P366,377,015 while that for infrastructure was placed at P3,770,744.
