The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported Wednesday that public infrastructure sustained an estimated P3.75-billion in damages attributed to the combined effects of the Southwest Monsoon and Tropical Cyclones ‘Crising,’ ‘Dante,’ and ‘Emong’ or the ‘CDE’ series.
Citing a report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance as of noon on July 23, Secretary Manuel Bonoan said the figure—which is still subject to field validation—covers the following public facilities across the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas and the Negros Island Region:
- National Roads – P483.69-million
- National Bridges – P24.48-million
- Flood control structures – P3.25-billion
Meanwhile, the DPWH Quick Response Teams have reopened 35 national road sections, but five remain impassable: one in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR); two in Ilocos Region; one in Central Luzon; one in Calabarzon due to soil collapse and flooding.
All other national roads and bridges in the affected regions are passable to all types of vehicles as of captioned date and time.
