Airline and aviation authorities announced the cancellation of five international and 21 domestic flights scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, due to unfavorable weather conditions in Manila.

As of 10 a.m., canceled were 21 flights of Cebu Pacific (CEB) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport to and from Legazpi, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Tuguegarao, Caticlan, General Santos, Davao, Iloilo, Cebu, and Tacloban.

CEB also suspended three flights to and from Hanoi, while its sister airline CebGo also canceled a flight coming from Naga.

“Due to the forecasted impact of heavy rains and flooding, Cebu Pacific has canceled the following flights,” the airline stated in an advisory.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) suspended two flights to and from Hanoi, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

CAAP also stated that CEB diverted its Cauayan-Manila flight to Clark International Airport, while AirAsia Philippines diverted its Bacolod-Manila flight to Iloilo.

A private flight MEDIC5157 going to Manila decided to return to Mactan.

“Passengers are advised to regularly check flight status with their respective airlines.

CAAP continues to monitor the weather and coordinate with airlines and airport authorities for the safe movement of air traffic,” the CAAP said in its advisory.

Air travelers are advised that further delays and cancellations may occur in the coming days depending on the weather conditions.

Airline officials also urged passengers not to proceed to the airport unless they have confirmed bookings for flights that are currently still planned to operate.
