CEBU City— Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro met today (July 21) with Russian ambassador to the Philippines Marat Pavlov at the Cebu provincial capitol with a view to strengthening bilateral ties.
Pavlov was accompanied by Consul Armi Garcia and other members of the Russian embassy during the talks that tackled opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchange.
Pavlov cited next year’s 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Russia in 2026, emphasizing the long-standing ties between the two nations and invited Baricuatro to Russia for the milestone events next year.
The envoy also said the Philippine leadership acknowledged that differences in socio-political systems between the two countries did not hinder successful and effective cooperation, underscoring the potential for deeper collaboration. Minerva Newman
