The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Saturday reported that three individuals were missing and around 215,000 people were affected by the recent heavy rains caused by Severe Tropical Storm “Crising” and the southwest monsoon.
OCD Administrator Rafaelito Alejandro IV said two people were reported missing in Antique due to flooding.
“According to reports, they were washed out to sea, so they are still missing,” he said, explaining the two were reportedly sleeping at home when the floods hit.
Another person was also reported missing in Palawan after going to sea despite the bad weather.
The OCD said these reports are still being validated.
Meanwhile, more than 215,000 people across 495 barangays — mostly in the Negros Island Region and in Panay — have been affected by the bad weather.
The OCD chief also said the agency has been on red alert and that there are around 3 million family food packs that can be sent to local governments to augment stocks of relief goods.
He added that the OCD and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) have standby funds to help local government units.
At least 18,000 personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) are likewise on standby for rescue operations.
Alejandro added that the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) recorded around P11.5 million in damage to flood control structures in the Ilocos Region.
