CAAP puts 44 airports on heightened alert over ‘Crising’

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Thursday placed 44 airports nationwide on heightened alert due to the movement of Tropical Depression “Crising” across the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The agency also announced the suspension of the following eight flights of Cebu Pacific (CEB) and its sister airline CebGo due to unfavorable weather conditions:

  • DG-6113: Manila (MNL) – Naga (WNP)
  • DG-6114: Naga (WNP) – Manila (MNL)
  • DG-6171: Clark (CRK) – Masbate (MBT)
  • DG-6172: Masbate (MBT) – Clark (CRK)
  • 5J 823: Manila (MNL) – Virac (VRC)
  • 5J 824: Virac (VR) – Manila (MNL)

CEB’s flight 5J860 from Zamboanga to Manila was also diverted to Laguindingan Airport for safety.

Affected passengers are advised to coordinate with their respective airlines regarding options for rebooking or refunding their tickets.

CAAP Director General Raul del Rosario has likewise instructed all area and airport managers in potentially affected regions to activate their respective Airport Emergency Plans (AEPs) promptly.

They are to maintain close coordination with local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils, airline operators, and other airport stakeholders to ensure passenger safety, secure facilities, and uphold continuous operational readiness.

This action aligns with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon to prioritize public safety and maintain uninterrupted transport services during adverse weather conditions.
