MIAA reminds NAIA staff of integrity

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Eric Jose Ines has reminded airport and airline personnel to uphold integrity in handling missing items, especially following a recent viral incident involving lost jewelry.

The reminder came after a social media post by passenger Kimberly Nakamura, who reported that her jewelry box containing wedding rings and other valuables went missing at NAIA Terminal 3 after her flight from Manila to Singapore.

Nakamura, while admitting the jewelry may have fallen from her bag, questioned the ethical standards of airport personnel who failed to report it. CCTV footage later revealed that more than 10 staff handled the item but failed to notify the Lost and Found section. Thanks to efforts by the Terminal Police and Surveillance Team, the items were recovered at Gate 104. MIAA praised Officers Casey San Juan and Frelyn Leda, as well as CCTV analysts, for their diligence in the case.
